return to where it all started for me today – Porthcawl ⛱️

absolutely bloody boiling πŸ₯΅ can’t believe the weather – hoping it’s just a bit freaky and not climate change messing with our usual seasons.

the lowdown:

πŸ“: Porthcawl Seafront, Bridgend County

πŸ…ΏοΈ: free parking along the long promenade if you get there early enough. otherwise huge council car parks reasonably priced.

πŸšΆπŸΌβ€βž‘οΈ: start is at the end of the promenade by the marina and lifeboat station

🚽: the pavillion ones are closed for refurbishment. there are public ones (not free!) near the start line.

πŸ‘Ÿ: normal road daps – 98.4% tarmac path with a tiny grass path to cross at the turn point

πŸ”οΈ: course has a lump in the middle which is a bit of a pull but you do get the joy of downhill the other side. but then back up and over on the way back 😁

πŸ™ŒπŸΌ: attracts a large crowd (400+) from the racing snakes , park walkers and everything in-between. very supportive locals and marshals aplenty with a cheer and a smile ❀️

iddy biddy lighthouse in the distance

i have run this course over 100 times now. it’s where i did my first ever parkrun and still rates as one of my favourites. it’s not the closest to my home for sure but always worth the extra travel time.

this week we added 3mi on before so we could clock the garmin 10k challenge badge. sucker for a well done from anyone, anywhere 🀣

another one ticked off

breakfast was a disaster this week. because it was so sunny the town was heaving and the spot we had planned had no seating and at least a 30 minute wait for food! after 6mi of running that seemed ridiculous! the other place we tried had no vegan options 😭 we ended up having coffee and donuts. whocult to the rescue πŸ›Ÿ
