my thoughts πŸ’ (may contain spoilers)

i have been desperately looking for something to scratch the scary itch and stumbled in this one on some top 100 list πŸ™„. a novel idea being all based on zoom πŸ’» and very of the time (lockdown 2020). It really kept me interested but it didn’t really go anywhere – no headwork or guessing,Β  just lots of anticipation and jump scares. exactly what I was hoping for ✨ a group of friends get together in a zoom call to have a virtual seance as a means to pass some time during the endless shitshow that was lockdown 2020. mostly sceptical, they head on in full of giggles, wine and banter.

the characters were likeable and gelled well together. i could imagine them being friends in real life. the performances felt extremely natural and the camera glitches and usual Zoom based crap added to the appeal. there were a couple of characters introduced at the start who just seemed a bit surplus to requirements – if anything they detracted from the story – if someone in my house was screaming their tits off upstairs i am pretty sure i’d have poked my head in to check they were ok πŸ˜‚

feels daft even rating the sets and costumes given as it was all based on zoom calls with nothing to note but the fact i feel that way makes it a high scorer! people and their homes in lockdown – nothing special and it all felt very real.

i found the pace of the film about right. it moved along well and the short introduction to the characters was ideal – got just the right amount of each personality before the story kicked off. Perfect length – no need to pause for a break or a wee. it finished because the zoom free meeting time ended – mint πŸ’…πŸΌ

initially this film just had me intrigued but by half way through my feet were off the floor (under the sofa monsters..iykyk) and my chest was a bit tight from holding my breath πŸ‘‹πŸΌπŸŽ‰

it was good fun and i will be recommending it to my horror loving friends. not too much gore, lots of tension and i will need the lights on going upstairs for a bit πŸ’€

So whilst not being an amazing piece of cinema this is a class film and ticked all the right boxes for me. i would give it a go if you like a scare and have a free hour.

⭐⭐⭐ (3/5)
