april has been mostly a good month. it’s moved along quickly but i’ve made sure to follow through on lots of promises to myself. sure some things have slipped by but i won’t focus on those too much.
i wanted to spend more time outdoors and get back to my regular walking and running routines. they seem to be the easiest way to maximise the outside. with the british weather being scarily cooperative i’ve had a blast!

cleared just over 50mi running this month. i have introduced lots of zone 2 (basically very easy, slow running which keeps the heart rate low) to help with the increase in volume. at 45 years of age my body doesn’t adapt so well to sudden changes in absolutely any form – I feel like a little orchid at times! really enjoyed most of my runs – even did a half marathon at the start of the month. hope to drag the momentum through to may. another 50mi month would be epic.

what other good things have happened…i attended a lecture/talk in swansea university titled ‘the history of witchcraft and feminism’. a fact packed couple of hours.
i thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend anyone even remotely curious to attend if it passes through their town/city.

i booked the ticket for it weeks ago as part of my once a month solo outing effort. i had noticed that over the last year or so i was getting a bit weirded out by going to things on my own. even dropping out of things I wanted to do last minute – I was physically too ill to go and I worried I manifested that illness for myself to have an excuse not to go. it may have been coincidence but I wasn’t willing to chance it. more solo dates was the answer. I love it – no one else to consider. just book on and go. Have done NT Live and a book launch that I can recall straight away, and feel I have a handle on it. big relief. on this occasion, knowing I would 100% have gone solo I took S along with me. by typing this i’ve been reminded I need to get some plans set for may and june solo trips!
